OUR TOP POST RUNNER TODAY N MY BLOG IS Venkatraman Pichumani

Half Marathon #110.
Mirchi Mumbai Monsoon Half Marathon - BKC
HE SHARED HIS WONDERFUL MONSOON EXPERIENCE

Ran my HM no 110 as the 3 hour pacer for the event. My co pacer wasBindu Panchal and we had a nice run along two loops in BKC. We also put together the pacing team in short order and many thanks to the pacers who responded and acquitted themselves admirably well. Special thanks toSuchita Varadkar and Kaushik Panchal for rallying support on short order.

The run itself was quite straight and ordinary. By now I do not need a pacing plan for the 3 hour bus. We kept about 4 mins in the bank in the first half...which we consumed in the second half knowing fully well that there would be many tired legs.
I finished in 2:59:22 as per the timing sms. Another day at the office.
This was my first run using the new 920XT that the nice folks at ‪#‎Garmin‬have given me. It has some amazing new features that left me feeling wow. I intend to do a series of posts on the several features of this model seperately.

MY  training group also ran and did well. #Puma — with Rajnish Singh RathoreRomesh PureySajid LadhaRanjit GangadharanKomal Dasadia andVikas Girkar.
The event itself was fairly well conducted. There were some negative reports of last time. At YouTooCanRun we work with the event organisers to improve the quality of the event. We do not work like a normal registration service which has a 'brokerage' perspective of the transaction.
My friend Ajit Singh was the race director and he took commendable efforts to put things in order this year. The venue of Reliance Jio park also ensured that it was wet but not mucky.
I am happy that I am able to pace in numerous races and that the gratitude of the runners that I receive is reward enough.

MY SECOND TOP MOST RUNNER IN MY

 BLOG IS +natasha tuli

Meet Natasha Tuli. In her profile, she says she runs, but adds that it isn’t a big deal given that thousands of people across the world also do the same. Fair point! Considering the world record for the 42kms race is just over two hours, why would someone bother about a woman who completed her first half marathon in over three hours? But we’d still argue that Natasha’s is an exceptional story; she can be an inspiration for runners the world over.
Firstly, Natasha had no inclination for sports when she was a child. “My worst memories from school are the ones when I would be at the playground, standing at the sidelines, watching the kids, who played football, run and jump their way to success,” she says.
Later in 2010, she began walking regularly to overcome a stiff back. This became a daily obsession and in a year and a half, Natasha lost 15kgs. “I remember in December 2011, a friend called me up to party. I told her that I had just finished walking 12kms and I still had the energy to walk some more. She then asked me to register myself for the Mumbai Marathon. My initial plan was to walk the 21km race, but then I met somebody during my evening walks who offered me some pointers and suggested that my walking pace was closer to running. I then ran the Mumbai Marathon and finished it in a little under three hours,” says Natasha.

Now, the story sounds inspiring, but fate had other ideas for Natasha. A year after her marathon debut and several runs later, Natasha ended up banging her head in July 2013. “Initially, I thought it was a bump, but then that month, I had pangs of headaches, the right-hand side of my body was partially paralysed and the final straw was when I collapsed during an MBA class I had registered into. I was then admitted to Lilavati Hospital in August that year,” recalls Natasha.
Natasha doesn’t like thinking of those times, but wisely says that her illness made her realise that every little thing that one feels, senses and experiences everyday is a gift. “I have been through times, when I lost sense of perception and thought. I remember being at the hospital and calling up all my friends, making sure each and everyone I knew of came and meet me. So much so, the doctor had a board put up outside my room stating ‘not more than 50 visitors per day’,” she jokes.
Although she was advised three months of bed rest and told not to even walk, Natasha decided to take matters into her own hands. “I resumed work 10 days after I left the hospital and would attend office for a couple of hours. I started walking a week after that and eventually ended up running two months post getting discharged from the hospital. I finally ran the 21kms Mumbai Marathon in 2014,” she recalls.
Natasha has also participated in the dna iCan women’s marathon. She says while she enjoyed running the marathon, like all large-scale events, there is always a scope for the event to get better. “I love the initiative behind the dna marathon, but I’d like to see it be on par with some of the best in the world,” she says.
Her story has encouraged her friends as well. “They tell me that I inspire them to believe in their dreams. I have a simple mantra: Spend time with your loved ones and pets, throw out the idiot box and connect with one another. Being alive is about connecting with people and their emotions, and yourself. Running has brought me closer to myself and got me to wake up at 5:15 a.m. to see the setting moon and welcome the rising sun. Most of all, running has made me a happier person.”
For Natasha, life is too short to be taken seriously. “I’ve always taken its ups and downs as a challenge, and with a sense of humour,” she signs off.

3.Mirchi Monsoon 10k Run at BKC. First experience as a Pacer (90Min Bus). Pouring rains is the best hack one can hope for. Raining coolant does bring down body temp..... by
Vishal Vithalpura

Mirchi Monsoon Run is one of many Runners fav race. This was my first 10k Run as 90min Bus Pacer. Well the holding area was much better than the last time's muddy mess! Route was the same as last year though. Ample space, many stalls to manage queue, nice post-run food, etc. But it was funny to find 21k and 10k runners crossing path. Besides, where were the Km markers? I mean, how can organiser 'forget' to put Km markers?
Some of the volunteers hid/placed water bottles below their tables. Too time consuming to take out and give to runners. All in all, kudos to the team for finding an awesome venue (couldn't be more perfect, at least in BKC). However the track left a lot to be desired. Volunteers, enerzal, water bottles, milestones, etc. Organisers, take a cue.

4. MY EVERY SMILING DANCING  RUNNER INDIRA SAHA .

DANCING QUEEN INDIIIIRAAAAAAAA

April2016 was the beginning! It all happened, when I came across a post of 'Milind Soman' for Pinkathon, to promote health awareness and women's runs. 'Milind' has always been my hot favorite, so inspired by him, I opted for runs with Pinkathon MUMBAI and started running since then and there was no turning back!
Today, on 31st July, 2016, in my journey of running long distances, I have reached a small peak where I went on for my very first 'timed' run for 10kms in the 'Mirchi Monsoon Marathon' event and throughout my run only one thought crept in my mind , "I have to fight my body ache and reach the finish line, no matter what! come what may". And I did it! No feeling can overpower the feeling of reaching the 'FINISH LINE'.
Frankly I couldn't have done this without the support of my family, more that of my 4 year old son, and all my besties running with me time and time again. I am really lucky to have all of them around as my daily source of inspiration!
Running has inculcated in me self determination, got me focussed and gave me a sense of assurance that YOU can again and again fall in love with....... your Passion!
